Need Finding/Problem Space [Empathy Map, Persona, HTA]
Problem Statement
Current storytelling book apps often fail to maintain user engagement over time. Users, particularly children can lose interest due to lack of interactivity and personalization. There is a need for an app that incorporates interactive elements such as choices that influence the story, personalized recommendations based on reading habits and gamified features to keep users motivated and engaged.
Problem Solution
To increase user engagement in a digital storytelling book app, the solution involves integrating interactive elements and personalization features. Interactive story choices will enable users to influence the narrative, making the reading experience more immersive and engaging.
Design Process
User Persona
The empathy map is an efficient tool used by designers to understand user behavior, visually communicate the results to colleagues, and unite the group under one understanding of the user. This tool was invented by Dave Gray and aims to reduce the potential for miscommunication and misunderstanding about the target audience.
In addition to providing an overview of the user and sharing it collaboratively, the results of creating an empathy map are useful for decision-making. Each of the findings obtained from the research phase is summarized in a concise and easy-to-digest format.
When the UX Designer team manages to identify the things that should be known about the user, you will get a more holistic view of the world, problems, and opportunities that exist. Holistic insight improved the context of the relationship between users and their respective experiences.
Hierarchy Task Analysis (HTA)
Task 1: Selecting a story to read
Task 2: Interacting with the story (reading and pronunciation)
Task 3: Managing the setting
1. Selecting a story to read
1.1 Navigate to the story library
1.1.1 Tap on the ‘library’ button or icon.
1.2 Browse available stories
1.2.1 Scroll through the list of stories.
1.3 Select a story
1.3.1 Tap on the cover or tittle of the story.
1.3.2 Wait for the story to load.
You must first find your way to the story library. Press the "library" button or icon to get started. This icon is commonly shown as a book or bookshelf and is placed prominently on the primary interface of the application. You may access the tale library, which features all of the accessible stories, by touching on it.
Once inside the story library, peruse the list of stories that are accessible. There will be two formats for the stories: lists and grids. To see other stories, swipe up or down to go through the available selections. Look through the many titles and covers at your leisure until you locate a story that catches your attention.
Press on the story's title or cover image when you find one you wish to read. By doing this, you will choose the story and start the loading process. You might get a loading screen after tapping, in which case you'll have to wait for the tale to finish loading. The duration of this operation is contingent upon your internet connection. You can start reading the story as soon as it loads.
If you want to browse and load content without any disruptions, make sure your internet connection is steady.

2.3.4 Repeat steps (2.1) and (2.2) for other storybooks.
Press the storybook cover and wait for the story to load to start reading. When the book loads completely, turn to the first page to begin reading.
Click on a passage in the book to hear the narrative read aloud. Next, hit the audio reading button that shows up—it's usually next to the sentence you've picked or on the toolbar. You can listen to the story as the app reads the text aloud. Remain relaxed and relish the audio storytelling, which offers a different perspective on the material.
The next and back buttons can be used to go through the story. To go to the next page, hit the next button; to go back to the previous page, tap the back button. Click the back button, usually indicated by a left arrow, to end the current narrative and go back to the library. Taking this action will return you to the library, where you can choose to read a different story.
Follow the previously mentioned instructions to read or listen to another tale. The new storybook may be loaded by tapping its cover. You can also use the next and back buttons to turn the pages and listen to a sentence as it is read aloud.
